Introduction

Water skiing easily qualifies into the category of those adventure sports which require a lot of practice and some really good balancing skills. This sport tests your patience to extreme as you tumble many times before you are ready for the final adventure. Water skiing requires a high level of physical endurance as your legs and back muscles are strained a lot in this activity. It provides good exercise for your entire body.

Water skiing is more adventurous than snow skiing as in this sport you need to glide over waves instead of skiing over mountain slopes. Also for water skiing you need to be a good swimmer as at times you will have to let go off the tow-rope attached to the boat. It can be compared with water surfing but there are lot of dissimilarities, as in water skiing your hands are not free. Also water skiing can be done on vast lakes, which have fewer obstacles.


In India many lakes in Srinagar provides the option of water skiing. The dal lake, nagin lake and manasbal lake are the prominent ones, which offers this adventure sport on there waters. In Kashmir from May to the end of August, that’s covering the whole summer season; water of the lakes remains pleasant for water sports.

Water skiing is an ideal adventure sport that can be tried on the seacoast. Besides surfing this is one sport that is catching the interest of beach lovers a lot and with the high safety standards and low risk factor people are more drawn towards this water sport. Calangute Beach, Dona Paula Beach, Cavelossim Beach, Condolim Beach, Bogmalo Beach, Sinquerim Beach are the most popular beaches in Goa for water skiing. Besides these beaches the beaches of the islands of Andaman and nicobar also offers this thrilling water sport.

Water skiing is an exciting and challenging sport; however it does have an element of risk. It requires a lot of practice in order to obtain a command over this sport. There are a lot of factors you need to keep in mind such as understanding the sign language of the instructor, surveying the skiing area for rough waters and obstacles such as rocks and checking your safety equipments. Water skiing can be made more exciting and electrifying by taking the necessary precautions.
