Angling & Trout Fishing In Himachal

River Tirthan in Kullu valley is one of the India’s prime spot for trout fishing. The crystal clear water; pebbles and stones clearly visible is treasure store for the famous brown trout  and its more coveted cousin; the rainbow trout. The Tirthan valley in the Great Himalayan National Park is about 06 hrs drive Chandigarh, 05 hrs drive from Bilaspur, from Delhi it is 550 Kms and about 12 hrs drive.

Goshaini is one of the small hamlets amongst few in the valley. Raju;s Cottage is one of the best Homestays in the world; ranked no# 1 by world leading magazines and journals. The specialty is the host themselves, Raju Bharti and Lata runs the Cottages both expertise amazing culinary skills and the house keeping is spic-n-span beyond compare in this remote region. The cottage itself is mostly patronage by VIPs, Diplomats, Journalist is highly guarded for privacy by the river itself. No one, even the drivers are not allowed to the other side.

The meals are superb prepared by the couple; Indian and western alike and fresh trout fish from the river everyday. All the vegetables come from the organic farm at the cottages itself.

Another interesting place to stay is the Himalayan Trout House in Nagini before Goshaini, At this place you can find locals fishing enthusiasts as well as a good crowd mixed crowd of  visiting fishermen, trekkers and holiday makers etc. It has a modern kitchen with freezers, oven and grill etc. Similar to Raju’s cottage the highpoint of the menus is the fresh wild trout and vegetables from the bio garden. It also provides club facilities with musical instruments, a collection of books, a fish tackle and tuck shop, fishing rods and reels, mountain cycles, trekking and climbing equipment, dartboard, shooting and archery range, astronomical and terrestrial telescope, binoculars, art materials and potters wheel, various kites, and indoor board games for the rainy days.

There are three pine paneled deluxe rooms with attached toilets and baths in the main house, 2 large furnished 14' by 14' Swiss Cottage tents for families and other teams, furnished 10by 10's and some smaller A's with sleeping bags for some more. Members may even pitch their own tents in an available space.
