About The Trek

The hanging valley of Gods Harkidun is trekkers paradise is the best explored areas of Garhwal. This valley is a treat for botanists, bird watchers, nature lovers and die hard foot loose trekkers looking for out of way, unconventional, unexplored. At the back drop is glistening snow clod Swargarohi peak & it has forest of pine, deodar & other conifers bordering vast stretches of meows. Harkidun falls within the Govind Pashu Vihar. The kauvaya prince is traditionally worshipped as main deity in the Fath Parvat region. This region is separated from Himachal Pradesh by river tons Jaunadhar glacier (altitude 4300m) is also of great interest fist about five kilometers far from harkidoon. This trek dramatically turn towards Himachal Pradesh. The trek ends in the beautiful Sangla valley the gate-way to the tribal region of Himachal; famous for ancient Tibetan Buddhist monasteries.

 



Day By Day Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Delhi:
Meeting and assistance on arrival at International Airport. Transfer to your choice of Hotel in New Delhi. 

Day 02: Delhi Uttarkashi, 385kms/9hr:
Transfer to New Delhi railway staion to board the train to Haridwar. On arrival met by representative and drive to Uttarkashi. Overnight at camp resort.

Day 03: Uttarkashi - Kalyani - Bhibra ( Agoda ) Dodi Tal, drive 7 kms and trek 7 kms :
A short drive before you set off on the trekking that awaits you the next few days. On arrival in Kalyani you start your tryst with the Himalayas and move on to Agoda to stop for lunch and then move on to Bhibra which is your first camp site. Overnight in camp.

Day 04: Bhibra - Dodi Tal trek 15 kms :
After breakfast leave for Dodital which is a sparkling and crystal clear lake surrounded by forests. The trek ascends gradually through thick forests and beautiful mountainous scenery. Anglers interest - the famous Himalayan Trouts are found in abundance in this lake. Permits for angling can be obtained. Camp overnight at this beautiful lake.

Day 05: Dodi Tal - Sima : 
After Darwa Top the trek passes through a long ridge with a view of meadows on both sides. Overnight camp.

Day 06: Sima - Hanuman Chatti - Barkot : 
After breakfast start the trek before you get a good break. 4 kms into trekking and one walks into dense forests of fur and deodar which are full of rare Himalayan birds and animals. Interesting downhill routes take you to the base camp at Hanuman Chatti. On arrival drive down to Barkot.Overnight camp.

Day 07: Hanuman Chatti - Netwar .
After a relaxed breakfast drive to Netwar into Tons River valley. Panoramic scenes and the drive along the river Yamuna in western Garhwal. The region is better known for the polyandrous society. On arrival on Netwar check in rest house and prepare for another great tryst with Himalayas, this time a higher one crossing Barsu pass. Meet your new helpers and porters.

 Day 08:  Netwar - Taluka :
This part of the Har-ki-Dun trek over the next few days is of great interest. Motorable road under construction. The forests are rich in wildlife and is veritable paradise for bird watchers and nature lovers. The trek is through dense forests of chestnuts, walnuts, willows, chinars and a variety of conifer trees. Overnight camp.

Day 09:  Taluka - Osla :
A relatively long day on the trek. Half way halt is Taluka 1,900m. Osla has very dense forests of walnut, chestnut and willow. Overnight camp.

Day 10:  Osla-Har Ki Doon :
The walk is through lush green terraced fields, grassy lands and very thick conifer forest. Overnight camp.

Day 11:  Har Ki Doon- Lal Pathar :
16kms/8hr : hard day walk to Lal Pathar 4,250m. Overnight camp.

Day 12:  Lal Pathar- Base Camp : 12kms/8hr :
A difficult uphill walk of 7- 8hr to the base camp 4,545m Overnight camp.

Day 13:  Base Camp-Camp 1:
This is the common encashment area for the Yamuna and Baspa rivers (flowing through Sangla Valley). The Barsu Pass has to be crossed early in the morning. The pass at 5,150m offers excellent panoramic views of the Dhauladhar range. Overnight camp.

Day 14:  Camp 1 - Ranikanda :
16kms/7hr: Steep and then gradual downhill walk to the grasslands of Ranikanda on the banks of the river Baspa. Very popular site with the shepherds of Kinnaur. Overnight camp.

Day 15:  Ranikanda- Chitkul : 21kms/7hr:
Very gradual downhill walk along the river Baspa with Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal looming large on either side of the Sangla Valley. Chitkul, 3,450m is the last village on the old Indo Tibetan trade route. Drive down to Banjara Camp on the banks of river Baspa 19kms/1hr. Overnight camp.

Day 16:  Sangla Camp:
A day of leisure. Or Visit the 800 year old Kamru Fort. Also visit Batseri village just across the camp - a perfect example of hill architecture. Overnight at Adventure Camp.

Day 17:  Sangla - Shimla 230 kms/7 8 hrs:
After breakfast say good bye to the beautiful valleys and move on to the erstwhile capitol of India Shimla. Overnight Hotel.

Day 18:  Shimla - Delhi :
550kms/14hr: After early breakfast, drive to Delhi via Chandigarh. Overnight hotel in Delhi.

Day 19:  Delhi Home:
Transfer to International airport to fly home.
