Introduction
Tibet is less known to the world for trekking as it is more famous for Buddhism and monasteries and Lamaism. But Tibet has some of the most virgin high altitude trails in the world. Rarified air combined with the high altitude, Tibet has very strong sun with high radiation. It is thus well said; if your hand is under a shadow and your feet exposed to the sun, it is very possible that your hand will get frostbite and your feet will get sunburn at the same time. A proper acclimatization is a must for all experience or novice trekkers of all the ages.
Amongst all the trek routes the Everest Region in the North is the most famous. It provides with numerous trek routes for the adventure lovers with different grade of difficulty. This route can be approached from Tibet side as well as the Nepal side. From a short trek of 5 days to vigorous trek expedition which includes non technical climbing and several high pass crossings can be done here.
Trekking in Tibet requires a special permit called the Alien Travel Permit which is issued by Tibet tourism board apart from the Chinese visa that you can get from the Chinese Embassy at your home country. Independent trek tours are not allowed in Tibet region so far, thus you can only form a group or join one.
