About The Tour
Located at 10500 ft in the Garhwal Himalayas, this luxury resort is a haven for skiers during winter and a base for trekkers or nature lovers at other times of the year. The resort is located on the fringes of the Nanda Devi Biosphere reserve, declared a world heritage area.
From June to September, the surrounding meadows are a riot of color with various species of flowering plants, being so close to the famous Valley of Flowers. Guests enjoy trekking, photography, pilgrimage day trip to the holy shrine of Badrinath, quaint ancient temples at Joshimath, picnics and hikes in the bugyals (flowering meadows) overlooked by the lofty Nanda Devi and adjoining peaks. The resort is the second highest ski resort in the world and accessible over steep 17 km in a 4-wheel drive or a thrilling 15 min ride on the cable ropeway from Joshimath, the nearest town.
Short day treks can be undertaken or a long trek on the famous “Curzon’s Trail” to Kuari Pass (24 km); naturalists can trek to the Valley of Flowers, tourists can enjoy a dip in hot sulphur springs at Tapovan or just revel in the majesty of the mountains, soaking in fresh air and sunshine. A 270 degree view of Nanda Devi and adjoining peaks can be had from the huge glazed windows and balconies of the resort.
