About The Tour

The Friendship Highway (also known as the Arniko Highway) is an important artery of commerce, it is also Tibet's most popular tourist route. It was built in the mid-1960s and to link the valleys to the south of the Tsangpo and it follows the ancient trade route from Lhasa to Kathmandu. The tour traverses through Himalayan villages and several high passes, the highest being the Gyatchu La pass at 5,220 m. A couple of days sightseeing tour of Kathmandu and the gradual drive gives us enough time to acclimatize. This tour ends at Lhasa the capital of Tibet and from there we take a magnificent flight back to Kathmandu and then to Delhi.

Day By Day Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive Delhi IGI Airport. On arrival met by representative and transfer to hotel. Overnight hotel at Delhi. 

Day 02: Delhi Sightseeing-Delhi-Katmandu: Full day sightseeing of New and old Delhi historical monuments also including the parliament house, India Gate and the National Museum. Evening transfer to International airport. Fly Delhi Kathmandu. Arrive Tribhuvan International Airport in Katmandu and be met by representative and transfer to hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.
 
Day 03: Kathmandu: Morning after breakfast we leave for sightseeing of Kathmandu city including durbar square, Kumari Ghar, Swayambhunath stupa and Patan city (city of Art). Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 04: Kathmandu (1300) /Zhangmu (2,500 m)/Nyalam (3700 m): 123 KM/ 156KM: Early morning scenic drive to Kodari (Nepal /Tibet Border) through the beautiful Nepalese countryside and after necessary border formalities at Nepalese immigration an hour adventures uphill drive by truck (normally) or 2 hour walk uphill (incase of landslide) to Chinese immigration. Check -into hotel or continue drive to Nyalam. Overnight at Hotel. (Nyalam Guest house or similar G. House).

Day 05: Zhangmu / Nyalam /Tingri (4300 m) / Lhatse (4350 m): 225 km/244 km: Day drive uphill to the highest plateau of the world with the typical view of Tibetan landscape offering sheer feeling of standing on the roof of the world crossing over LALUNGLA (5,050M), from where, weather permitting breathtaking panorama of beautiful Himalayan ranges including Mt. CHO OYU (8201 m) & Mt XISHAPAGMA (8012 m) but dwarfed by the vastness of the Tibetan plateau. From Tingri one can enjoy the magnificence of MT. EVEREST (8,848 m). Overnight at Hotel. (Lhatse Guest House).
 
Day 06: Tingri-Lhatse-Xigatse (3900 m): 244 km: Continue scenic drive crossing over GYATCHULA (5,220M), the highest pass en route to LHASA via LHATSE from where to road to Mt. KAILASH bifurcates to the west. Overnight at Hotel. (Everest Friendship Hotel or similar).

Day 07: Xigatse-Gyangtse (3,900 m): 90 km: Morning sightseeing to the Panchen Lama's TASHILHMPU Monastery. Drive to Gyantse and visit to the KUMBUM Stupa & PHALKOR Monastery. Overnight at Hotel. (Utse or Similar Hotel).

Day 08: Gyantse-Lhasa (3,650 m): 261 km: Full day picturesque drive crossing over KAROLA (5,010 m), KAMBALA (4,794 m), colorful YAMDROK LAKE and the Tibetan lifeline river BRHAMA PUTRA (YARLUNG TSANGPO). Overnight at Hotel. (Kailash, Snow Land or similar Hotel).
 
Day 09-10: In LHASA: Two full days sightseeing tour in LHASA including JOKHANG TEMPLE, BARKHOR BAZAAR, POTALA PALACE, DREPUNG & SERA MONASTRIES. Overnight at Hotel.
 
Day 11: Lhasa-Kathmandu: Early morning drive to Gonggar airport for departure flight to KATHMANDU. On arrival at Kathmandu, met by representative and transfer to Hotel. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.
 
Day 12: Kathmandu -Delhi: Departure transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport fly Kathmandu to Delhi. On arrival at Delhi met by representative and transfer to hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Delhi.
 
Day 13:  Delhi-Home. On time departure transfer to International airport, fly Delhi-Home.
