Jeep Safari In Sikkim |
Sikkim is separated by the Singalila range from Nepal in the west, Chola range from Tibet in the northeast and Bhutan in the southeast. Rangit and Rangpo rivers form the borders with the Indian state of West Bengal in the south.
Sikkim is conveniently divided into four regions east, west, north and south. The most populated area is the eastern part which includes the capital town of Gangtok, followed by southern and western districts and finally the sparsely populated northern area with its inhospitable climate and steep ridges
Sikkim has 2873 Kms. of road network, comprising of 40 Kms. of National Highway (NH-31A), 184 Kms. of Stat Highways, 722 Kms. of Major District Road and 1073 Kms of other District Roads. In addition, there are 854 Kms of Strategic and other border roads.
Most of the safari passes through yak-graded meadows, carpeted with Primulas, lined by Rhododendrons and waterfalls, hot spring spots, lakes, high passes, petit villages, tea gardens and Buddhist monasteries. Most of the roads are well mettled but narrow trailing over the hills and passing through lush green valleys.
