Jeep Safari in-and-around Ladakh

Introduction

Since these forbidden lands of the Himalayan regions has been opened for tourist the adventure sport of Jeep Safari came in to existence. It took is name as during those days the only 4x4 vehicles were the Jeeps. Today the safaris can be done in any good 4x4 vehicle like, Gypsy, Sumo, Qualis, Scorpio or Tayota Innova but we still call it a “Jeep Safari”. Many regions of Ladakh can be best enjoyed by Jeep safaris only and many remote places otherwise with no alternative transportations.  During these safaris you have the option to go off the roads sometimes to remote villages and much more closer to the nature.  You may do the classic old style “mobile camping” which gives you more freedom and choice to camp anywhere you like. The mobile safari needs entire camping staff and equipment following you in a backup vehicle and gives you a feeling of trekking style camping without actually walking.  While in the usual jeep safari you stay at the pre-setup deluxe camps at places and enjoy more comfort and luxury like a proper bed, bath and toilet facilities, multi cuisine dinning hall, power backup etc. In both the cases you move at your own pace, stopping at places for photograph or just to be in the nature.

The third and the latest futuristic trend is the safari by Motor Homes / Camper vans. At myadventuretrip.com,  for the first time in India, we offer Camper Vans (for details please check our MotorHome section or contact us) which seats 4 people and the driver with all the basic facilities that you can have in a house. 2 double beds, TV, fridge, stainless steel kitchen, solar panels for power charge and portable toilets, water storage. Since the infrastructure for camper vans safari is not developed yet. Thus the itinerary is very critical factor and myadventuretrip has team of experts to do the job. On the other side since Ladakh has been opened to tourist three decades back, it has welcomed hundreds of camper vans from all over the world till date.

Many routes has been identified and established in and around Ladakh. Due to the high altitude, extreme weather condition, the rarified air, extreme isolation with almost no human trace, the constantly changing terrain and the numerous motorable high passes as high as 5350 Mtr. these safaris are extremely adventurous and well rewarding when you finally reach a petit-scarcely inhabited village- deep in the mountain or to an high altitude lake that lays untouched for centuries.

Most of the roads; about 90% are well mettled but not wide, in a typical safari you cross many passes,  roads climbing zig-zaging and sometimes to reach a pass you may negotiate 60 to 70 twist and turns. Thus average speed would be not more then 25 Kms per hour.
