Motor Biking in Bhutan

Introduction

The motor biking expedition takes you to petit villages deep inside the otherwise once inaccessible by wheels, past raging rivers, stop to admire breathtaking water falls, blooming rhododendron forests and play on snowfields at the bottom of snow capped Himalayan peaks. Bhutan is quit favorable for Motor biking as the roads are well maintained. During this Motor biking expedition we rest for the nights in comfortable hotels and the program can also be changed to camping and hotel or all camping with mobile kitchen and staff if one wish to go beyond the beaten paths and more deeper into the hills and valleys. It provides an amazing variation in altitude and topography.

Bhutan’s main road is the  East-West highway, known locally as the Lateral Road, which was constructed starting in 1962. The road starts in Phuentsholing on the south west Indian border and terminates in Trashigang in the far east, with spurs to other main centres such as Paro, Thimphu, and Punakha.

The Lateral Road traverses are a number of high passes, including Tremo La and Do Chu La. The highest pass on the road is at Trumshing La in central Bhutan at an altitude of over 3800 m.

Bhutan can easily be classified as a botanical paradise. A few floras in Bhutan are- rhododendrons, junipers and magnolias several meters high, carnivorous plants, rare orchids, blue poppy (national flower), edelweiss, gentian, medicinal plants, daphne, giant rhubarb, high-altitude plants, tropical tress, pine and oak etc.

Among the rare and exotic faunas found in Bhutan are - Golden Langur, Red Pandas, Black-necked Crane, Snow Leopard, Takin, Musk Deer, Himalayan Brown Bear, Himalayan Marten, Tiger, hornbills, pheasants, mountain goats and timid blue sheep.
